slide21A growing business in the Ione area is getting some water relief from Amador County. The Board of Supervisors approved a letter of intent for a lease of their Carbondale business park well for the US Tile Plant. The lease also opts the county out of the water business says General Services Administration Director Jon Hopkins. The lease proposal would grant US Tile a 34 year lease on the well, and its water, estimated to be about 25 gallons per minute by Hopkins. The lease also allows US Tile to extend a pipeline to their plant from the well and use that pipeline, at their own expense and maintenance, thru the term of the lease. The company was also required to build two ponds for fire suppression for a total of about 70,000 gallons of water in the event of a wildland or plant fire.
