A California Youth Authority (CYA) fire crew
made a gruesome discovery yesterday while working in Fiddletown when they
stumbled upon skeletal remains. According to a press release from the Amador
County Sheriff’s Office, yesterday
at approximately 9:30am the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office advised the
Amador County Sheriff’s Office that they were responding into Amador County
regarding a lead on the possible location of a murder victim. The Amador County Sheriff’s Office assigned
an investigator to assist. At
approximately 11:10am, Cal
Fire contacted the Amador County Sheriff’s Office and reported that a CYA fire
crew working in the area had located some human remains in a wooded area south
east of Fiddletown.
A team of Sheriff’s investigators responded to
find the skeletal remains of a subject approximately ten yards off the
roadway. Due to some consistencies with
the scene and physical evidence, San Joaquin County Investigators were
requested to respond to the scene of the found skeletal remains. Based upon the totality of the circumstances,
the Amador County Sheriff’s Office released jurisdiction of the crime scene and
the Coroner’s Investigation to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. The scene was processed by the California
Department of Justice. San Joaquin County
Investigators are not releasing further details until identification of the
body using dental records is complete.
