slide24Some local teens are getting a head start on promising careers in health care. Sutter Amador Hospital (SAH) awarded scholarships to three students preparing to head to college this fall to study a field in health care. The scholarships were awarded during awards ceremonies prior to graduation in the spring. Every year, SAH awards scholarships to local students dedicated to making a difference to the health of our community. SAH’s merit-based scholarship program was established to support the advancement of health care in the communities we serve, and to promote the training and development of future health care professionals. slide28 Sutter Amador Hospital Community Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors from Amador or Calaveras County who will be pursuing an associate’s degree or higher in a health care program. This year, two Amador High School students and one Calaveras High School student received a Sutter Amador Hospital Community Scholarship. “We received applications from many qualified students this year, which made the selection process difficult,” says Barbara Wells, human resources director at SAH. “The three students we chose to award scholarships to are very deserving, and displayed qualities of leadership and determination and expressed dedication to caring for people. We are proud of their achievements and wish them well in their future endeavors.” Megan Doyle, the recipient from Calaveras High School, will be pursuing her dream of being a surgeon. Amador High School recipient, Jessica Ketel, plans to pursue a degree in respiratory therapy and Noelle Erosa, also from Amador High, will be pursuing a degree in nursing. Megan and Jessica were both student interns at SAH through the Regional Occupation Program (ROP) this year.
